Spray Dryer
Spray drying is one of the most widely used industrial drying technologies for converting pumpable liquids, slurries, emulsions, and solutions into free-flowing powder in a single continuous process.
As a leading spray dryer manufacturer in India, we design and manufacture high-efficiency industrial spray drying systems for food, dairy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, nutraceuticals, and specialty ingredients—engineered for consistent powder quality, controlled particle size, and long-term reliable operation.
What is Spray Drying?
Spray drying is a suspended particle processing (SPP) technique that uses liquid atomization to create fine droplets. These droplets are instantly dried into individual powder particles when they come in contact with a hot gaseous drying medium, typically air, inside a drying chamber.
It is a one-step, continuous unit operation used globally for high-volume and high-quality powder production.
Over 25,000 spray dryers are estimated to be in commercial use worldwide, drying products from dairy and food ingredients to pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, dyestuffs, mineral concentrates, and biotechnology products, with capacities ranging from a few kg/hr to 50+ tons/hr evaporation.
Working Principle of a Spray Dryer
At the heart of a spray dryer lies the process of atomization, where liquid feed is transformed into fine droplets. These droplets enter the drying chamber and contact hot air, causing rapid evaporation of moisture. The result is a dry powder which is separated and collected through cyclone separators, bag filters, or wet scrubbers depending on the application.
Advantages of Spray Dryer Technology
Industrial spray drying offers unmatched flexibility and productivity across multiple industries.
Key Benefits
Fast drying due to very large surface area of droplets
Suitable for heat-sensitive and non-heat-sensitive materials
Uniform particle size and shape for consistent quality
Produces powders with excellent flowability and easy handling
Enables continuous operation with manual, PLC or SCADA control
Can be engineered for aseptic and hygienic drying conditions
Low labour requirement (single-step drying with minimal handling)
Can produce granulated, agglomerated, or non-agglomerated powders

Types of Atomizers in Spray Dryers
We offer multiple atomization technologies depending on the product and capacity:
Pressure Nozzle Atomizer
Best for many food and chemical applications requiring controlled droplet size.
Rotary Atomizer
Ideal for high-capacity continuous drying. Offers excellent consistency and flexibility.
Twin-Fluid Nozzle Atomizer
Used where fine droplet formation is required and compressed air is available.
We also supply atomizer spares, parts, and retrofit solutions for existing spray dryers of other brands.
Inlet & Outlet Temperature
The inlet temperature ensures efficient evaporation, while outlet temperature is critical to protect product quality and moisture control.
Feed Rate
Feed flow impacts residence time, powder moisture, and throughput.
Airflow and Air Velocity
Optimised airflow ensures uniform drying and prevents wall deposition.
Our spray dryers can be engineered to deliver powders with targeted properties such as:
Dust-free powder output
Controlled particle size distribution
Desired bulk density
Improved solubility and instantisation
Sinkability and dispersibility
Agglomerated or non-agglomerated powder
